Job description
In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.
The purpose of the Trim Engineer is to play a key role within the Industrialisation department, leading the introduction and optimisation of trim systems from concept through to production launch.
This role is responsible for developing, validating, and improving trim processes, tooling, and documentation to ensure product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and on-time delivery of programme milestones.
The Trim Engineer will lead a small team of Trim Technicians, coordinating development build activities, ensuring readiness for production, and driving continuous improvement throughout the industrialisation process.

Desired profile
Candidate Skills:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in trim, interior, or soft-trim engineering within an Aerospace, automotive or similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of industrialisation processes, product launch, and design-for-manufacture principles.
- Experience in leading small technical teams in development environment.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD data interpretation and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and control plan development.
- Strong understanding of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and pattern development processes.
- Experience working directly with suppliers on tooling or trim development.
- Familiarity with prototype build phases and pre-production launch activities
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Clear, professional communicator across all levels and functions.
- Able to manage multiple programmes, priorities, and timing deliverables effectively
- Proactive in identifying risks, proposing improvements, and driving implementation.
- Committed to delivering right-first-time outcomes and maintaining process discipline.
- Flexible approach to dynamic project environments and evolving design requirements.
- Maintains and promotes a strong safety culture and adherence to company policies
