· Occupational Summary (Position Objective & Authorities)
Objective:
The EDL Technician 1 supports and assists with various tasks within the Protoshop environment. Tasks may include assisting with machining parts on manual or CNC machines, vacuum forming and hand trimming plastic parts, and fabrication of sheet metal details and spot weld assembly operations.
This role is designed as a developmental position focused on learning core fabrication and machining processes.
Learns to interpret sketches and follow verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks. Maintains a high quality of workmanship while developing technical skills and knowledge of fabrication processes.
Works under close/direct supervision and receives guidance from higher-level technicians to build proficiency and independence over time.
2.. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
Main Function Responsibilities-
A) Assist in working from blueprints and other written and verbal instructions.
B) Support fabrication of basic development, CDR, Show Seat, and Test components under supervision.
C) Assist with machine setup and operation under guidance; will not independently set up equipment initially.
D) Learn to prepare parts to match customer Trim and Finish definitions.Maintain a high quality of workmanship and follow established processes and instructions.
E) Participate in on-the-job training and possible classroom training to develop machining and fabrication skills.
F) Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate skills & requirements
· Qualification Requirements-
A. Education & Qualification-
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical school coursework or enrollment in a related program is preferred.
B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge-
• No prior manufacturing experience required, or up to one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing or related environment preferred
• Relevant coursework or vocational trainings a plus.

C. Professional Skills-
• Basic ability or willingness to learn to read and interpret blueprints
• Basic math and measurement skills; experience with measuring tools is a plus
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in fabrication, machining, or manufacturing processes required
• Some knowledge of CAD systems is preferred
• Experience with manual machining equipment is preferred
• Computer knowledge: Microsoft Excel is preferred
• Must have the ability to generate written communication and operate required office equipment
• Ability to read and review written communication.
• Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

· General Work Conditions (Physical Demands)

• Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed.
• Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to differentiate between components.
