Two Student Internships in Genetics & Genomics (6 Months)
Our team consists of Scientists and Associates in the Genetics & Genomics Laboratories at Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). Working in close collaboration with scientists in the disease areas of Infectious Diseases, Immunology and Inflammation we perform genetic and genomic analyses for safety and toxicology evaluations, discovery and assessment of new drug targets and biomarkers, as well as understanding disease mechanisms. In addition we evaluate new technologies in the field of Genetics and Genomics.
During your internship your tasks will include:
· Test new protocols and evaluate the latest sequencing technology and methods (eg. Microbiome and transcriptome analysis)
· Acquire hands-on experience for sequencing library preparation and use of sequencers
· Extensive use of molecular biology techniques to prepare nucleic acid samples for sequencing
· Presentation of gained results at internal meetings

We are looking for an enrolled student at University, close to finishing a Master program in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
Moreover you are/have:
· significant lab experience
· delight to work independently in the lab
· interest to gain experience with sequencing technology
· a keen interest in testing new technology and setting up protocols
· a real team-player and enthusiastic to work within and across teams
· communicate well in English and enjoy working in a team
· self-motivated and enthusiastic about developing and testing new ideas
