The Position
The Environmental Sustainability unit in Basel is part of the Global Capital Investment & Real Estate function. We shape and drive the environmental sustainability agenda within the Roche Diagnostics sites and affiliates globally, and thus contribute to the creation and improvement of facilities and buildings that are sustainable, efficient, effective and inspiring.
Your host team is located in Basel and consists of engineers, environmental scientists and architects. Our focus area is sustainability in the built environment, which encompasses all life cycle phases of our facilities and buildings.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
You will assist in evaluating and selecting tools and databases for the quantification of embodied carbon in construction projects
You will support the calculation of embodied carbon in construction projects by integrating LCA data and BIM models
You will help us with the calculation of effectiveness and financial performance of circular construction measures
Moreover, you will assist in coordinating best practices for circular construction by setting-up a best practices platform
Who you are:
You are an enrolled university student in your university programme in Civil Engineering or Architecture, preferably with a focus on sustainable construction, or alternatively have pursued your degree not longer than 12 months prior to the start date
Furthermore, you are excited about driving circularity in the construction industry
Ideally, you have already gained first experience in the construction sector and are aware of the challenges to implement circularity in construction projects.
You have experience with BIM (ideally with Autodesk Revit) and have gained first experiences with calculating embodied carbon and whole life carbon emissions
You have the ability to explore, understand, and communicate data in a meaningful way and critically assess your data sources.
You are fluent in written and spoken English and have excellent communication and presentation skills; additional languages are welcome
Start:
As of now or according to agreement. Internship period is 9 months.
