Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) is a global function within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) enabling discovery and early development of drug candidates in support of a diverse portfolio of small molecules, complex therapeutic proteins, oligonucleotides and gene therapies.
Within the PS organization, the Project Leaders and Modeling & Simulation department is driving the early development and safety strategy in a holistic way to ensure efficient and high quality support of portfolio and patient safety, from early discovery all the way through to registration and beyond.
As a lot of innovation is also happening outside of Roche and as we aim to develop an entrepreneurial drive in scouting and assessing new opportunities for all PS, we are looking to expand our team with a new role of Technology Innovation Scout.
Your main responsibilities are:

Develop a scouting strategy for next generation technologies relevant to the clinic as well as the preclinical spaces,

Develop a networked culture of innovation, experimentation and learning within PS and bring a scientific oversight of external collaborations,
·
Create a modern Due Diligence model related to technology evaluation,
·
Work in a matrixed technology scouting team across Pharmaceutical Sciences,
·
Manage an active non portfolio budget to enable fast experimentation and learning cycles,
·
Create a strong interface and develop close relationships with the other Roche and pRED Departments: Therapeutic Modalities Department (TMo), Diseases Therapeutic Areas (DTA's) and our Roche Partnering organization (RP),
·
Coordinate the new technology Due Diligences: technology transfer activities, finding partners etc.

Prepare proposals and outlines for Roche Innovation Partnering.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
As the successful candidate, you have a proven foundation in a relevant scientific field with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical or the biotechnology fields. You are curious and passionate about innovation technology with a structured approach to embark upon those technologies within our teams, departments and across the organization.
With your excellent interpersonal skills, your entrepreneurial mindset, your leadership capabilities and your collaborative attitude, you lead a matrix team of technology/subject matter experts. A strong focus on scientific excellence, innovation, and compliance will make you contribute and grow in this highly demanding role. In addition, you have:

Life science degree, Pharm D
·
Strong working understanding of pharmaceutical sciences
·
At least 3 years experience in the pharma/biotech industry in a scientific leadership or business role, interacting with multiple stakeholders, universities or companies globally

Fluency in English is a must, additional languages are an asset
