Job description
You will be situated in the Drug Product 1 Group (DP1) of the Commercial Quality Control Department in Kaiseraugst. We are seeking a highly motivated intern to develop and optimize High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) conditioning procedures prior to chromatographic analysis (with a focus on reversed-phase and size exclusion chromatography), with the aim of further increasing the robustness of the applied separation methods in an effort to increase overall method performance and effectiveness in our commercial Quality Control (QC) labs. In close collaboration with the assigned mentor, the intern is expected to plan and test new approaches and to evaluate the outcomes in comparison to existing procedures.
In particular, the internship will include the following tasks:
· Familiarization with HPLC and Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) Systems
· Development, optimization and troubleshooting of HPLC system conditioning procedures
· Comprehensive documentation of performed experiments and developed methods

You are an enrolled student in Bachelor or Master program at a University or University of Applied Sciences in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or related field.
Furthermore you are/have:
· Highly self-motivated and science driven
· Basic knowledge of HPLC separation techniques for biomolecules (e.g. SEC, RP, IEC etc.)
· First hands on experiences in the field of HPLC is highly desired
· Knowledge of Chromatographic Data Systems (e.g. Empower) is an asset
· Fluency in German and good English skills
The internship is planned for a six month period with start date between August and October 2016.
