Summary

Responsible for establishing and maintaining compliance of Roche Indianapolis across all business areas with the regulations governing Imports (administered by CBP, USDA, FDA, DEA, FCC), Exports (administered by Census, BIS, DEA), and Controlled Substances (administered by DEA).Responsible for coordinating activities outside the US needed to obtain import or export authorizations from foreign governments. Responsible for managing special trade compliance programs such as Free Trade Zone and Duty Draw Back.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

·  Assigns and maintains accurate classification of products with respect to Import, Export, and DEA regulatory regimens, including the use of appropriate database applications.
·  Communicates with regulatory agencies in order to respond to questions or resolve problems, to provide required reports, to obtain necessary authorizations, listings, classifications, or exemptions, and to obtain advice or rulings regarding regulatory compliance.
·  Conducts research and analyses of existing processes in order to produce the most effective performance improvements and improvement strategies necessary for the accurate classification of products, and the uninterrupted flow of products across national boundaries.
·  Develops, documents and implements departmental procedures and policies to provide sustainability and to support improvements.
·  Develops training materials and conducts training in order to qualify new departmental employees for working independently.
·  Provides suggestions to appropriate company authorities to modify existing processes based upon experience and related analyses. Plans, develops, and implements improvements and changes to internal processes for accurate and efficient classifications of products.
·  Represents Regulatory Compliance on cross-departmental or international projects and tasks, and provides advice regarding problems relating to Import, Export, or DEA regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

·  Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field
·  More than 5 years of related experience
·  Basic knowledge of Import or Export regulations
·  Intermediate level skills with spreadsheet or database computer applications

Preferred

·  Licensed Customs Broker
·  Free Trade Zone experience
·  Duty Draw Back experience
