Works with the key cross-Franchise stakeholders and Managers, is responsible for the strategy development and execution of the Strategic Workflow Consulting solution offering for our customers. This position will bring an entrepreneurial spirit needed to drive disparate projects and tie all the pieces of a complex solution portfolio offering together to achieve a 1Roche Strategic Workflow Consultancy brand; manages the operational and financial performance of the Strategic Workflow Consultancy solution offering to create/demonstrate customer value (at the institutional level) to achieve cross-franchise sales objectives; manage internal/external communications, work in close coordination with global strategic workflow consultancy stakeholders and local Roche Diagnostic Corporation marketing and information technology teams; develop methods and tools to demonstrate the end to end value of the Roche portfolio solution; recruits hires and trains strategic workflow consultants; and collects voice of the customer input to improve the overall strategic workflow consulting solution offering.

Provides strategic decision making, leadership and planning, including the efficient and effective use of resources. Achieves results through the leadership of managerial, professional and/or support staff. Delegates responsibilities to subordinate staff. Sets policy and strategy for own department. Has full HR responsibility for direct and indirect reports. Has full budget responsibility for assigned functional area or departments.

Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.

The Sr. Director - Workflow will:

• Development and refinement of specific methods, tools, techniques and product offerings, and their interaction with Advanced Workflow and other RDC solutions and services, to include a Total Value of Ownership (TVO) strategy as an outcome of Return on Investment (ROI), Critical to Quality (CTQ), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) program initiatives.
• Leadership and oversight of a field-based Workflow Consultant team who are responsible for delivering workflow consulting assessments, training and advice to customers (including process and value stream mapping, 5S analysis, change management, etc.)… Managing operational and financial performance of the Workflow Consultancy team and the 1Roche Strategic Workflow Consultancy solution offering to create value and achieve cross-franchise sales objectives.
• Develop and administer standardized and harmonized practices for consistent national delivery of workflow advisory services.
• Assist with the development of similar services in international markets.
• Facilitate, with the Managers and Workflow Consultants, high-value deliverable templates, best practices and tools to deliver consulting and training to customer teams.
• Provide expertise to assist consultants with the assessment of new and existing customer laboratories and work practices to recommend near and longer term improvements that deliver efficiency, safety and effectiveness to customer stakeholders.
• Drive the strategic development and implementation of a cross-franchise Strategic Workflow consulting team that leverages the clinical, operational and financial value of our solutions, in close coordination with Global and Local stakeholders. These stakeholders would include Global Workflow and IT Consultancy and Local RDC Marketing, Information Technology and Support Network teams.
• This position will drive a standardized end to end approach to strategic workflow consultancy that creates evidenced-based differentiated value, across our 1Roche solution portfolio, both inside and outside the walls of the lab. This will require an entrepreneurial spirit to drive disparate projects and tie all the pieces together to achieve a 1Roche Strategic Workflow Consultancy brand.

• Own and manage overall consulting product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Provide expertise to assist consultants with the assessment of new and existing customer laboratories and work practices to recommend near and longer term improvements that deliver efficiency, safety and effectiveness to customer stakeholders.
• Communicate internally and outside RDC the value of WFC services through written documents, speaking engagements, marketing materials, etc.
• Provide lean workflow support to other RDC organizations for product development and commercialization activities.
• On occasion, assist with delivery of workflow consulting services to customers and in internal process improvement efforts.

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or healthcare related field required;
• Minimum 8 years of management experience required. Background must include in-laboratory experience or healthcare industry experience and experience delivering and managing consulting services using Lean Six sigma or similar analytical tools. Experience in product or service development, launch and marketing preferred. Minimum 3 years' experience in consulting industry or equivalent experience required, 5+ years consulting experience with Lean Six sigma methods preferred. Health care or hospital industry focus preferred.
• Current expert level knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles and practices, and the ability to apply these to healthcare generally and laboratory management specifically.
• Strong organization and analytical skills to manage and coach project managers to higher level results.
• Ability to use analytical methods and applications to support workflow conclusions.
• Ability to help define and build a new business concept with RDC's total solution, including creating and deliver professional services, creating management processes to ensure success of a developing business, creating methods and tools.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills to influence customer decision makers by articulating ideas and influencing others to adopt solutions. This includes the ability to credibly recommend changes to lab practices to improve waste, cost, quality, and turnaround times.
• Ability to effectively lead, manage and influence people at various organization levels internally and within the customer site.
• Deep understanding of IVD Laboratory Solutions and their workflow/functioning; within the lab and at an institutional level.
• Experience in product or service development, product launch and marketing
• Require familiarity with Roche and/or competitor products, and has the ability to credibly recommend changes to lab practices to improve waste, cost, quality, and turnaround times.
