Product Owner

Roche Sequencing Solutions is seeking a technical Product Owner to join our Software Product Management organization. We are working on exciting new technologies in the field of DNA sequencing, and our Product Management team plays a critical role in defining software products that leverage these advances. The Product Owner will partner with designers, engineers, devops and other cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art solutions on a modern, cloud-based stack. This individual will be responsible for management of the user story backlog for one of our high-profile products, and will be accountable for requirements decomposition and authoring of acceptance criteria for all aspects of the product.

This individual will represent the Product Management team in daily standups, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives and other cross-functional meetings. He or she will be accountable for sprint-level prioritization of the backlog and will contribute to the overall prioritization process and product roadmap based on a thorough understanding of product strategy.

Responsibilities

· 
In conjunction with the Product Manager, prioritize a backlog of user stories

· 
Author user stories, acceptance criteria and other technical documentation

· 
Be the high-availability resource for answering questions posed by engineers and designers about stories in the backlog on a day-to-day basis

· 
Ensure that story content and prioritization is aligned to larger strategic objectives

· 
Attend standups, grooming meetings, estimation meetings, retrospectives and other key meetings for the scrum team

· 
Manage scope and drive trade-off decisions in conjunction with external stakeholders

· 
Identify blockers that will impact timeline, scope, cost or other project variables and escalate to the appropriate stakeholders

· 
Manage requirements lifecycle across multiple tools and systems

Qualifications

· 
1-3 years of experience as a Product Owner or Software Engineer in a software development organization

· 
BS in Computer Science

· 
Experience with Agile processes such as Scrum, Lean and Kanban

· 
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
