Sensor Development Engineer BGE R&D
We are looking for a team-oriented, inquisitive and self-reliant person for our BGE (Blood Gas & Electrolytes) Sensor Development Team.
Our Team «BGE Sensors & Electrodes» develops, characterizes and optimizes different electrochemical sensors for medical devices in the area of IVD diagnostics. In particular, we are interested in the parameters of gases (O2 & CO2), electrolytes (pH, Na+, K+, Ca2+ & Cl-) and metabolites (Glucose & Lactate) in whole blood.
To be able to deliver the desired instruments for hospitals and testing laboratories, we utilize electrochemical, optical and enzymatic measuring principles. We develop these methods for the analysis of whole blood by understanding the theoretical basis and use this to develop new sensors. Furthermore, we support the series production with technical expertise and address any issues with our existing products.
To fulfil this challenging task, we seek a sensor developer with the following responsibilities, competencies and skills:
Main responsibilities:
· You contribute to the development of new sensors or the improvement of existing products.
· You develop sensor designs based on fundamental principles, experimental data and simulation models and implement them into new and existing products.
· You work independently in a multidisciplinary team by planning your projects / work packages, conducting investigations and generating the required data and documentation.
· You take responsibility for equipment and develop new tools, methods and processes to evaluate our sensors.
· You support the team with your scientific expertise and practical knowledge to understand and solve various technical questions that arise in development and in production of our complex electrochemical sensors and electrodes.
· You address product care topics such as production issues (deviations, root cause & risk analysis) and product care topics (customer complaint investigations, material and design changes).
· You are the point of contact for our diverse stakeholders and actively interact across interfaces.
We offer a broad variety of activities which will challenge you and give you the option to grow.
Who you are:
You possess the following skills/competencies:
· You have a higher technical education (master or PhD from FH/university/ETH) in chemistry / physics / engineering and ideally already have collected experience in industry (preferably in a regulated environment).
· You are interested and dedicated to develop physical/electrochemical/optical sensors and understand their behaviour and can implement your results into new sensor designs and series productions.
· You have experience in working in and contributing to multidisciplinary development from very varied fields with diverse backgrounds.
· You ideally have experience in different electrochemical methods (potentiometry, impedance spectroscopy, ...) as well as broader physical and chemical analysis.
· You have experience with the development of new characterization methods and implement them in test methods, setups or tools and are able to acquire, process and analyse data with appropriate tools (Matlab, Excel, MiniTab, R, Python,...)
· You are able to document the results at a high technical level, you can actively report your data, results, ideas and achievements and you understand to work in a highly regulated environment.
· You are open, flexible and team-oriented.
· You can communicate well in English and German.
