Senior GPU Software Engineer

Roche Sequencing Solutions Santa Clara, is a fast moving, highly technical team of people with the ambitious goal of disrupting Next Generation DNA Sequencing. Developing this unique platform requires expertise across a range of fields: Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Theory, Biophysics, Biology, Chemistry, Protein Engineering, Digital and Analog Circuit Design, and Electrochemistry, just to name a few.

Responsibilities Include:

·  Develop GPU-accelerated software targeted for real-time primary analysis on a DNA sequencing instrument
·  Work closely with research and algorithm experts, accelerating bioinformatics techniques using GPU hardware
·  Proficient in developing GPU-accelerated software in C/C++, with familiarity in Python for signal processing numerical analytics
·  Support software development lifecycle and Design Control process, working closely with team members to continuously improve quality and feature sets of the software products, based on technical design and requirements specifications
·  Produce well documented software along with test and validation to create high quality output
·  Establish best practices for software development methodologies and standards to ensure highest quality of the software product delivered to users
·  Proactively interface with engineering and research teams to ensure all technical aspects of software development are properly communicated to all stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

·  Master's degree (PhD is preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study.
·  Minimum of 3 years of work experience in GPU software development, or equivalent of educational coursework.
·  Experience with GPU-accelerated C/C++ libraries, such as CUDA, Thrust, TensorFlow, Theano, etc.
·  Experience with CPU-accelerated libraries (boost, mkl, Eigen, etc.).
·  Solid experience in writing, debugging and optimizing large-scale highly parallel (CPU and GPU) Linux applications.
·  Machine learning techniques, particularly implementing neural networks.
·  Digital signal processing theory and tools such as MATLAB, NumPy/SciPy.
·  Strong problem-solving skills and ability to track software issues to successful resolution.
·  Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision in a collaborative fast paced environment.
·  Ability and desire to learn quickly and apply that knowledge effectively.
·  Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders.
