Our team in Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Informatics is part of Roche's global Research & Early Development Organization. The mission of our team is the design, development and delivery of innovative integrated scientific informatics solutions and platforms focusing on the capture, analysis, and visualization of chemical, biological and biomedical data, and transforming it into knowledge. A successful research organization today depends on high quality, interoperable and reusable data to support decisions making in all stages of drug development with a strong focus on science and the ultimate goal of delivering new innovative treatments for patients. In this role, you will:

·  Support the development, adoption, enhancement and integration of data standards in pRED, the global Roche Organization and within external collaborations (eg Pistoia Alliance, Innovative Medicine Initiative, CROs
·  Participate in pre-competitive collaborations on data standards across the pharma industry
·  Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, domain experts and information architects to support seamless solutions for data integration and data sharing based on existing and/ or emerging data standards
·  Be an active member of the Roche-wide Data Curator and Integrator Network
·  Collaborate and share your knowledge with colleagues in Basel, other locations and other functions
·  Continuously learn new things and look into new engineering/ data integration approaches to keep yourself up-to-date with new trends on the highly dynamic field of data management solutions

We are looking for a motivated candidate with passion for solving complex data curation tasks to join a multi-cultural team working on innovative approaches in a science-driven industry. You have a background in Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics or related degree programs (MSc or PhD) and a good understanding in at least one of the following domains: biology, medicine or chemistry. Additionally, you bring:

·  Excellent knowledge of data standards such as CDISC and biomedical terminologies/ ontologies like NCI Thesaurus, MedDRA, SNOMED CT, MeSH, LOINC, Uberon, RxNorm etc
·  Proven experience in the practical application of data standards to scientific data in domains like assay data, exploratory study data or clinical data. Experience in data quality management based on data standards
Familiarity with business processes and workflows related to data capture, data integration and data sharing. Experience with practical work in a Laboratory could be an advantage
·  Good knowledge engineering skills including conceptual, logical model design and knowledge in the design of scientific data management solutions
·  Good familiarity with Terminology Management, Semantic Technologies and Linked Data
·  Basic knowledge of semantic retrieval/query language (SPARQL) would be welcome but not a prerequisite
·  Interest in and knowledge about heterogeneous scientific data (biology, chemistry, medical genomics) from various sources (in-house, commercial and public) created within different research areas
·  You are a structured thinker with excellent analytical skills
·  You are goal oriented, a pro-active knowledge sharer and team player, and you are able to work independently on assigned tasks
·  New technical paradigms are embraced by you and you actively explain them to others
·  Fluency in English
