Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) is a global function within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). We enable discovery and early development of drug candidates in a rich portfolio of small molecules, large molecules, oligonucleotides and gene therapies in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, ophthalmology, rare and infectious diseases.

In the DMPK/PD leaders department we provide innovative drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) and translational PK/PD strategies to the entire pRED portfolio, bridging from in-silico and in-vitro systems or pre-clinical species into humans,from early discovery all the way through to registration and beyond. We currently are looking for a highly motivated student to join our group for PhD internship.

In this position, you will:

· 
Develop a database of in vivo pharmacokinetic studies in rodents and humans for small molecule drugs using Roche in-house and literature data

· 
Develop machine learning property predictions based on chemical structural features

· 
Develop physiologically based models to predict pharmacokinetics in vivo in rodents and humans leveraging the properties predicted with the machine learning models

· 
Lead the drafting of scientific publications on the work performed

Who you are

You are an enrolled student in a PhD program (or recently finished) with a focus in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, engineering, drug sciences and/or medicine.

Moreover you are/have:

· 
Basic knowledge of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles

· 
Basic knowledge of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling

· 
Basic knowledge of chemistry and/or structure activity relationships

· 
Basic knowledge of machine learning, optimization, deep learning, reinforcement learning

· 
Proficient in R, Python, Matlab or any other programing/scripting language for data analysis

· 
Good analytical skills

· 
A pro-active knowledge sharer with excellent organizational skills

· 
Proficient in english

· 
Preferably some experience in a research environment

The starting date of this internship is flexible upon availability. Please indicate your earliest availability from September 2020
