The Roche Innovation Center Zurich is active in the research and development of engineered therapeutic antibodies, with a focus on the fields of cancer immunotherapy and immunotherapy in general. Part of the Roche Group since 2005, it employs about 180 people.

The Position

As a Research Associate (50%) you will join the CIT-2 Department at Roche Innovation Center Zürich (Schlieren, Switzerland) and interact closely with a team of scientists working on novel classes of cancer immunotherapy agents. You will focus on performing in vitro and ex vivo biological assays to characterize the activity of new molecules and understand their mode-of-action.

The principal responsibilities will include:

·  Planning, conducting, analyzing and interpreting in vitro/ex vivo assays based on tumor/immune cell (co-)cultures
·  Assessment of antibody binding, antibody-mediated tumor cell killing, immune cell phenotyping, assessment of immune cell activation, proliferation, cytokine secretion and downstream signalling events
·  Maintenance of in vitro cell cultures and routine quality controls of molecules and batches
·  Laboratory manager responsibilities including daily lab routine, ordering supplies, monitoring inventory and contracts will also be required
·  Data analysis and interpretation, contribution to preparation of scientific presentations and writing of scientific reports
·  Presentation of generated data packages in project team meetings
·  Co-ordination of material supply, exchange and alignment of protocols and data interpretation with external collaborations
·  Accurate documentation of assays and close collaboration with team members to allow efficient job-sharing

The position is permanent and part-time (50%) and the start date would be February 1st, 2020 or shortly thereafter.

For this position you bring the following qualifications:

·  Bachelor, Master's degree or Lab technician with comprehensive research experience in cell biology or tumor immunology (no PhD)
·  Excellent hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, Isolation and handling of immune cells from blood (human, mouse, cyno)
·  Excellent experience with tumor cell-immune cell cultures and co-cultures, various cell biology techniques and state-of-the art immunoprofiling techniques for functional characterization of immune cell responses (e.g. multiparametric analysis by flow cytometry, CBA or multiplexing, MACS sorting, ELISA, luminescence, live cell imaging by Incucyte)
·  Good written and verbal English is mandatory
·  Strong communication and presentation skills
·  Ability to work effectively and independently within a diverse group of people
·  Excellent organizational skills, ability to take initiative and work with a high degree of flexibility to timelines
·  Close collaboration with team members required
