Job description
The Position
Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics (SBX Nanopore Sequencing) in 2020 for its novel Sequencing by eXpansion (SBX™) technology. SBX™ uses unique applications from chemistry, biochemistry, and protein engineering to sequence DNA by nanopore in rapid time with high accuracy and low cost. You will join the SBX Biochemistry team and play a crucial role in meeting SBX production goals as well as supporting research and development efforts.
The Biochemistry SBX team is passionate and dedicated to our SBX™ technology and the impact high throughput, low-cost DNA sequencing will have on patient outcomes. Responsibilities
• Complete production assignments thoroughly and in a timely manner.
• Diligently record observations and maintain thorough batch records. Elevate potential issues to manager that could have downstream impacts.
• Complete assignments using techniques that comply with Roche Diagnostics Seattle safety policies, quality control systems, and GMP requirements.
• Learn and execute SOPs to produce critical reagents.
• Identify and troubleshoot problems in creative ways.
• Communicate effectively and promptly with manager on assignment status, findings, and process deviations
• Execute high quality experiments with guidance from senior team members.
• Use technical writing skills to generate reports and documents that effectively communicate scientific observations and results.
• Make recommendations to keep the lab a clean and safe environment for all team members, including regular housekeeping tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized personal and communal lab space.
• Adhere to Roche Diagnostics Seattle policies and supports management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BS in Biological/Life Sciences, Biochemistry or related field
• Minimum 2 years related experience, prefer 3-4 years
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Experience working with and maintaining GMP requirements.
• Experience recording and maintaining thorough batch records.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory skills (e.g. pipetting, sterile technique, solution preparation)
• Very good organization skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
• Ability to work safely within the lab and take appropriate actions to ensure lab safety.
• Comfortable working in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Programs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen ability to listen to directions and company goals and execute them effectively.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all organizational levels.
Relocation benefits are not offered for this role. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Seattle, WA is $63,000 and $90,00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
