Your position and department:

The biomarker discovery group is embedded in the department of early development at Roche Centralized and Point of Care Solutions (CPS). This development unit is focusing on the biomarker discovery for different fields of clinical application and disease areas. Described biomarker candidates are targets of prototype assay development for implementation in clinical study assessment.

Your work will focus on the following aspects:

• In the R&D group of biomarker discovery you will analyze large “-omics” datasets from internal and external sources
• You will work at the leading edge of diagnostic biomarker science and support global units with innovative solutions in the area of predictive analytics
• You will design and implement algorithms for processing gene expression data and their analysis in disease specific manner
• You will regularly coordinate your approach with internal project teams and experts from diverse subject areas
• Finally, you will be part of a highly motivated team having profound experience in the field of discovery defining targets for biochemical assay development and using state of the art methods, equipment and facilities.

• You have successfully completed a scientific doctorate in Bioinformatics or a similar field. Ideally you gathered experience in life sciences and, at the same time you have extensive knowledge in the areas of data science, informatics and application in clinical questions.
• Your experience in the areas of Clinical Studies or Biomarker Discovery is of high value to us
• You have outstanding programming skills or working knowledge in bioinformatics tools data annotation and curation.
• You gained proficiency applying, generating and adapting bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of sequencing data from NGS, RNAseq or microarray
• You have profound programming skills or working knowledge in bioinformatics tools like R, Python, Bioconductor, Docker and others
• You have the ability to translate complex problems, gathered experience in workflow development and are skilled in application of machine learning methods
• You enjoy cooperating with project members from diverse scientific backgrounds and are willing to develop continuously. In addition, you are sensitive to intercultural and interdisciplinary matters. Working in a team comes natural to you.
• You are a pro-active individual with passion and commitment to innovate healthcare
• You already demonstrated personal flexibility and the capability to work independently.
• Fluent English skills are required; German is not mandatory.

This position will be filled with effect fall, 2020 and is limited to 2 years.
