Your Department
This position is located in the “Cell Line & Molecular Development” department, which belongs to the 'Pharma Research and Early Development' (pRED) organization. The main focus of our team is the development of cell lines for the production of therapeutic proteins. During the period of your PhD study, you will work closely together with your corresponding supervisor .
Your Position
During the PhD program you will work on the interface between cell biology with bioinformatics and machine learning. Therefore, you will work in the environment of the department of Cell Line and Molecular Development within Large Molecule Research (LMR) of Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) and will also closely interact with Roche data scientists. Focus of the project is the management and the analysis of high throughput sequencing data (NGS) to fully exploit genomic profiling technologies for answering biological questions and developing machine learning (ML) approaches for early clone performance prediction.
Among other responsibilities, you can expect the following exciting tasks:
· Your key responsibilities comprise the development of data analysis and prediction algorithms on antibody NGS data by the application of appropriate machine learning techniques.
· You will work as abioinformatics/biostatisticsresearcher (m/f/d) within Roche Pharma Research, developing machine learning approaches for early clone performance prediction.
· Furthermore, you will get the unique opportunity to validate your findings by wet-lab experiments.
· It will be your responsibility to closely interact with wet lab scientists and data scientists to generate and analyze NGS data.
· Presentation of data internally and externally as well as literature search is part of your regular tasks.
The publication of results belongs to your tasks and will be supported.

Desired profile
Who you are
· You have finished your Master's degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology or a related field.
· You have a strong background in analysis of large NGS datasets and a good understanding of NGS technologies.
· You are experienced in standard bioinformatics toolkits and programs (e.g. programming experience in R, python or other statistical analysis language).
· Basic knowledge of biology, especially cell biology would be an asset.
· You are willing to perform standard wet-lab experiments with guidance and you are eager to learn new techniques.
· You are well known for your strong team spirit and your willingness to work in international teams.
· Excellent English skills (written and spoken) complete your profile.
This position is limited to a timeframe of three years.
