The Position
Our Synthetic Molecules Technical Development department has an exciting opportunity for a Process Development (Senior) Scientist with experience in chemical synthesis of oligonucleotides to join our team based in Basel, Switzerland.
Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) is responsible for technical development of the synthetic pipeline molecules and for the manufacture of Drug Substance and Drug Product for clinical studies. PTDC brings a broad range of experience across Drug Substance and Drug Product and analytical sciences, and collaborates closely with key partners in Research and Early Development (pRED / gRED) and with our synthetic molecules commercial manufacturing network.
As (Senior) Scientist for Oligonucleotide Process Development, you are responsible for the following main tasks:
Process development of oligonucleotide manufacturing processes focusing on synthesis, chromatography and membrane filtration.
Development of cost efficient and robust processes and delivering thorough process understanding by using state of the art science and methodologies to enable lean manufacturing.
Leading a team of associates in a matrix organization to design and develop manufacturing processes and working in an interdisciplinary matrix team with scientists from analytics, and manufacturing, process engineering, and microbiology.
Coordination of drug substance related activities and representation of DS team in project team and evaluation of data using state of the art statistical tools and/or advanced process modeling.
Transfer of processes to production for technical and GMP manufacturing internally or to CDMOs and authoring of scientific reports, patent applications, and regulatory documents.
You have following qualification:
Ph.D. in Chemistry (PostDoc is a plus) with a minimum of 3+ years of working experience in an industrial setting and experience with oligonucleotide manufacturing process development with focus on the chemical synthesis.
Experience with downstream process development (chromatography, UF/DF, nanofiltration, TFE), experience with enzyme catalyzed synthesis of oligonucleotides is a plus and experience with peptide manufacturing process development are advantageous
Working style driven by initiative, team focus, responsibility and flexibility and excellent organizational skills, self-driven, efficient and reliable attitude.
Excellent command of written and spoken English, German is a plus.
This role may be offered at Scientist or Senior Scientist level depending on the experience of the incumbent.
