The Position

The Network Management Section under Infrastructure Reliability Engineering Chapter is responsible for data and voice services infrastructure for Roche. We develop, evolve, maintain and scale network solutions based on the global standards, ensuring a solid foundation for excellence across all products in Informatics, now and in the future. 

To be based in Kuala Lumpur, the Data Network Reliability Engineer will be a key contributor to the Connectivity Product Line’s integrated services in APAC. This role is accountable for mature, stable and well known LAN, WAN, or WLAN technology services and solutions.

The person is required to engage stakeholders to listen and understand provisioning and capacity demands, and acts as the point-of-accountability for decisions directly related to the service offering. The person will also strive for the success of the service across all divisions and for its quality, efficiency, effectiveness and consumer satisfaction with the running of the service.

The Data Network Reliability Engineer will work closely with global Product Managers and Product Owners in Connectivity Product Line space in delivering values to our stakeholders, through problem-solving and hands-on technical skills, while ensuring the service runs in compliance with service metrics relevant to the consumer.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.

• 2-4 years of working experience on designing, implementing or delivery of data network infrastructure.

• Experience in providing consultancy and proposing design/solutions based on provisioning requirements, requests for change, and capacity demands.

• Able to work with virtual teams with variable workload, in flexible working hours.

• Comfortable to communicate with confidence with stakeholders, vendors and colleagues across different geographies. Proficiency in English, both written and oral, is mandatory. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.

• A go-getter with good organizational and time management skills; passion to drive initiative and able work with minimal supervision.

Technical Job Requirements

• Hands-on experience in implementation and/or operation of any of the followings:

  • LAN (branch offices & data center). 

  • WAN (internet & SDWAN). 

  • WLAN (on prem & cloud-managed).

• Solid understanding of end-to-end network architecture and its related protocols.

• Experience in one or more of the following network services activities:

  • Network HLD & LLD.

  • Lifecycle management.

  • Network capacity planning.

  • Site relocation/expansion.

  • Network consultancy.

• Working knowledge and experience in the SAFe Agile delivery framework and usage of ServiceNOW for IT service management process is an added advantage.

• Exposure (strong passion) in network automation or cloud networking is a definite plus.
