An exciting opportunity for a physician looking to gain experience within the pharmaceutical industry
The Roche UK Clinical Research Fellowship was established in 2013 and is aimed at trainees who have an interest in diversifying and broadening their training to include various aspects of clinical research methodology from the perspective of novel pharmaceutical development. The fellowship will be 1 year in duration, primarily based at Roche Products Ltd in Welwyn Garden City, UK, within the Oncology Clinical Development Group. There will be the opportunity for travel and direct interaction across the global merged Roche and Genentech companies. Your research supervisor at Roche will be an experienced and fully UK accredited Physician working for Roche based in Welwyn Garden City, experienced in pharmaceutical research and clinical development as well as clinical medicine career development in the UK.
The Fellow will be expected to have a clinical commitment consistent with the requirements of being Out Of Program (OOP) in the context of specialty training, including having a clinical supervisor. It will be the responsibility of the Fellow to arrange this clinical activity. The fellowship is primarily aimed at third and fourth year Haematology / Medical Oncology trainees who have a strong interest in the area of clinical research into novel pharmaceuticals, including biologic therapies.
As a Fellow in the Global Oncology Clinical Development Group you may:
● Be involved in the design, execution, analysis and interpretation of data from clinical studies for marketed compounds as well as molecules earlier in development
● Be involved in the design, execution, analysis, interpretation and communication of data from observational registry studies, which are an important means of evaluating outcomes associated with treatment patterns and safety signals
● Interact with globally recognized academic experts and clinical investigators
● Participate in key clinical strategy, implementation and molecule management meetings in order to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities and challenges of medicines development
● Provide clinical expertise in the Haematology / Medical Oncology disease areas for cross functional pharmaceutical development teams
● Generate and present abstracts and oral presentations for key external conferences (e.g., EHA, ASH, ASCO, ICML) and other specialty meetings
● Be involved in discussions of Personalized Health Care (PHC) and how patient selection for different therapeutic interventions can be improved

Who is the Roche Clinical Research Fellowship suitable for?
● Ideally a third or fourth year Haematology / Medical Oncology trainee looking to diversify their training with a clear vision of what the fellowship will add to their career development
● A candidate with a track record of interest in clinical research. An MSc or strong publication background is highly desirable but not essential.
● Someone interested in further understanding and influencing the development and approval of medicines for patients with Haematology / Medical Oncology disease
Note: this is not intended to be a basic science fellowship leading to a post graduate degree, although the clinical research could supplement or inform existing basic research if appropriate.
