Laboratory Expert for Oligonucleotide Development in Process Chemistry & Catalysis
Internship Basel, SWITZERLAND Sales
Job description
· Job facts
Behind every product sold by Roche is the strong involvement of Pharma Global Technical Operations (PT). Starting with Phase I of the clinical development process and continuing through to product maturity, PT makes medicines at sites around the world and includes more than 12000 employees worldwide.
Global Technical Development (PTD) is an organization within PT of over two thousand people globally that are integral for the mission of Roche to develop new, efficacious medicines for patients. Therefore, PTD actively collaborates and develops innovative technical solutions to bridge early-stage, late-stage and commercial product needs. The mandate of this unit is to reliably deliver the pipeline and supply quality products to patients. The unit excels in its work through innovation, collaboration, dedication, and mutual respect and adds value every day, continuously improving what it does.
Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) within the PTD unit brings a broad range of experience across drug substance (DS), drug product (DP) and analytical sciences, and collaborates closely with key partners in the departments Research and Early Development (pRED / gRED), commercial manufacturing (PTC) and PTD. PTDC drives late stage technical development of our synthetic molecules pipeline and manufacture of DS and DP for clinical studies.
As an expert for oligonucleotide development you will be working in the Process Chemistry & Catalysis department within the Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) organization in a team of enthusiastic people. You will design and develop robust and cost effective processes to enable reliable delivery of our oligonucleotide portfolio. You will be involved in and contributing to the whole manufacturing process from the solid phase synthesis over concentration and desalting until purification and finally isolation of the drug substance.
As opportunities and responsibilities you will:
·
develop and optimize the oligonucleotide syntheses to enable transfer of robust and efficient processes to manufacturing
·
generate know-how and experience on the downstream processing steps including desalting and isolation stages and routinely perform developed purification processes
·
work closely together with chemists and technicians from all internal and external partners to gather the available technical knowledge and facilitate a smooth transfer to the manufacturing plant
·
be responsible for the reproducible, safe and environmentally friendly execution of the work as well as the complete, traceable and comprehensible documentation of all results
·
Take care of the maintenance of the laboratory equipment and that the laboratory remains technically up to date
Your Profile
As a qualified candidate you bring an apprenticeship as laboratory technician in an organic synthesis environment and further education (B. Sc. / M. Sc.) is an advantage. On top you have experience in the field of oligonucleotide synthesis, preferably in an industrial development and manufacturing environment.
Your further qualifications are :
·
You are competent and confident in working with automated systems (e.g. lab automation systems, prepHPLC systems) and have hands-on experience with the standard equipment and software used in oligonucleotide synthesis (e.g. Cytiva OP100, Unicorn)
·
You are proficient in standard preparative lab techniques and have solid knowledge in analytical methods (HPLC, MS)
·
You have experience with the ultrafiltration/diafiltration technique and you are familiar with the state-of-the-art equipment (e.g. Äkta Crossflow) and materials used for this process.
·
Preferentially, you know and practiced different methods and techniques for isolation (lyophilization, precipitation, spray-drying)
·
Experience in using in-silico modeling and digital tools to analyze your experimental data are an advantage
·
You have an exact, diligent and clean style of working and enjoy being in the lab as part of a team. You have the manual dexterity required to work with sophisticated automation equipment
·
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing in English and German
