The Position

Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics (SBX Nanopore Sequencing) in 2020 for its novel Sequencing by eXpansion (SBX™) technology. SBX™ uses unique applications from chemistry, biochemistry, and protein engineering to sequence DNA by nanopore in rapid time with high accuracy and low cost. We are looking for people who are excited to collaborate with us to make SBX successful.

 

You will join the SBX Central Services team of Lab Assistants and play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Order and track laboratory supplies.

  • Create, receive and reconcile orders through our ordering and tracking software.

  • Maintain and repair equipment.

  • Ensure efficacy of the lab's pipetman.

  • Clean Chemistry glassware and synthesis vials.

  • Complement the positive and dynamic Central Services (CS) team, lending support to the CS manager and other laboratory assistants.

  • Complete production scale polyacrylamide gel purifications for the laboratory.

  • Produce production solutions for the laboratory.

  • Quickly and effectively interpret directions into appropriate and efficient actions.

  • Develop and propose improved processes to fulfill the above functions.

  • Maintain the lab’s cleanliness and organization.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to Roche Diagnostic Seattle’s policies and support management decisions and

  • goals in a positive, professional manner.

What you’re known for:

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks.

  • The Ideal Candidate will have experience executing basic laboratory skills (e.g. pipetting, sterile technique, solution preparation) and working with common laboratory equipment (e.g.  speed vacs, centrifuges, pH meters, balances)

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and management.

  • Ability to retain a flexible mindset and adapt readily to changes in processes or objectives.

  • Commitment to self driven learning.

  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Who you are:

  • BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related field

Relocation benefits are not offered for this role. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Seattle, WA is $40,000 and $80,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed here: Benefits
