About the position
A skilled IT Infrastructure Engineer well-versed in the technologies, tools, principles, and concepts associated with a specific technology domain, capable of applying them to address business challenges.
They embody the T-shape engineering model, boasting comprehensive expertise in one specific area within their Infrastructure technology domain and practical knowledge in at least one additional space. Additionally, they possess a high-level understanding of how the IT infrastructure under their responsibility directly influences Roche's business processes.
They assume accountability for achieving milestones linked to particular products/projects. Leveraging a thorough comprehension of theories and concepts within their technical or professional discipline, they adeptly and independently tackle a diverse range of challenging problems.
Understanding in designing and implementing test driven infrastructure continuous deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code technologies.
As an Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing and developing Device platforms, with a primary focus on delivering an optimal user experience on Windows and Mobile platforms. These devices are utilized either directly by end users or by business applications in Manufacturing or Laboratories.
You will collaborate with an exceptionally skilled engineering team located in Madrid, South San Francisco, and Basel to provide the most customized and effective experience for Roche users with a global customer base.
Your key responsibilities:
Specializing in the Windows and Mobile platforms initially:
Ensure that technologies within their designated infrastructure align with and adhere to the organization's architectural technical strategy, policies, standards, and direction.
Guarantee that implemented technologies comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of best practices and IT operations for an always-up, always-available service, applying Scrum and Agile methodologies.
Provide technical recommendations and contribute to best practices, position papers, and white papers for infrastructure technologies and use cases within their designated technology areas.
Stay abreast of operational challenges and opportunities, collaborating with support team staff to offer internal escalation support as needed, contributing to the resolution of incidents and major issues.
Support the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for designs, design patterns, and component standards.
Capable of working autonomously and/or under the supervision of more senior peers, with the ability to lead small technology teams, mentor/lead individuals in the workgroup, and provide guidance to less experienced personnel.
Assist and support in creating end-to-end designs for infrastructure technologies and contribute to the creation and maintenance of related standards.
Evaluate promising technologies within their technology domain through proofs of concept (PoCs), guided by their feasibility in meeting Roche's business needs.
Architect (as solution architect) the design, build, test, and implement (first-time deployments) integrated, resilient, and reliable technologies within their respective technology area.
Serve as a consultant to internal/external stakeholders on technical matters.
Your qualifications and experience:

Possessing in-depth knowledge in the following technical skills:
Scripting proficiency in Python / Powershell is a plus, and knowledge of Infrastructure as code.
Packaging experience and understanding, Microsoft Auto Update.
Understanding and knowledge about ITSM/ITIL (Change management etc)
Distributed version control and source code management tools: GIT, GitHub, or equivalent
Public Cloud technologies: AWS or Azure
Mobile Device Management platforms (e.g., Jamf Pro, Mobileiron, inTune, SCCM)
Experience in network/security architectures required for a proper integration of the MDM designs
Advantage to have certifications like: MSCE / O365 related / ITIL certification.
