Job description

The Position

The Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) team within Sensor & Cartridge (S&C) Operations is supporting the manufacturing processes and the quality control of Roche Blood Gas and Electrolyte (BG&E) Sensors and Reagents used in BG&E systems (for example, cobas b123 blood gas system).

Roche Blood Gas and Electrolyte (BG&E) systems are first frontier diagnostics systems, which deliver fast and reliable results in situations critical to the patient's welfare: 

  • Intensive care unit

  • Emergency room

  • Operating room

  • Neonatal station

We are responsible for improvements of the product quality and reduction of the manufacturing costs. We act as scientific support for the running production and establish control loops for identified critical process parameters to ensure stable production. We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary team with diverse backgrounds in engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, etc. We are looking for a highly motivated intern to support our improvement projects within the production of sensors and reagents. As an intern, you will directly contribute to different running projects. Therefore, you will get the opportunity to have a direct impact on product improvements. Your MSAT host team is located in Rotkreuz.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Analyse production processes and/or experimental data

  • Report results and conclusions to the project team

  • Create and develop ideas for process improvements

  • Implement improvements to help us achieve higher productivity and product quality

  • Help shape the new processes according to the Lean Manufacturing principles

Your profile

  • You are currently enrolled at university (studying Engineering, Natural Sciences, Material Science or a similar degree) or graduated within 12 months prior the start date

  • You are excited about lean process development based on data processing and evaluation as well as understanding the complex relationship between product quality and process performance 

  • You think strategically and set concrete objectives with an entrepreneurial mindset showing excellent budget and timeline ownership.

  • You have an eye for details and value precise documentation in alignment with current GDP/GMP (Good Documentation & Manufacturing Practice) guidelines. You are aware that the highly regulated environment of the medical sector requires management processes such as Change Management in order to stay compliant and do not find this formal aspect of the work boring.

  • You are proficient in both English and German

Due to regulations Non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents. Furthermore, they need to be enrolled during the entire duration of the internship.

Start

April 2024 or according to agreement.

Ideally for 12 months in Rotkreuz. This position is suitable for students looking for a full time or part time internship.
