Overview

At Roche, we believe data analytics methods can facilitate physicians' effort to provide better care. In Data and Analytics Chapter, we leverage the potential of knowledge gained from data.

As a data science intern focusing in natural language process topic in our team, you'll help scale our data science organization through the architecture, optimization, and maintenance of data pipelines built around a proprietary knowledge base and offline NLP.

Key Responsibilities:

You will work on projects critical to helping our company and patients as they navigate an ever-changing healthcare industry. You will be an NLP data engineers that want to be part of the creative process as well as versatile, display leadership qualities and passionate about working on revolutionary solutions to the problems facing the industry.

From the electronic health record, clinical trial document and medical publications, we will receive a lot of PDF, Text, other data format, which is unstructured data. As the NLP Engineer, your job would be to collect and extract the information out of the different unstructured source and organize the data into structured components that will be useful for further processes in the medical domain.

We will be working together on the NLP topics, such as:

·  Named Entity Extraction, Language Detection
·  Emotion/Sentiment Prediction
·  Keyword and Topic Extraction
·  Intent detection, Query Parsing, Semantic mapping

Qualifications

·  You are a student in your final phase of your Bachelor's or Master's Degreein computer science/ system engineering/ statistics/mathematics/ Computational Linguistics (youare still enrolled in University)
·  You have a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms. Experience in dealing with unstructured data
·  You have strong coding skills in Python and experience with web data extraction/web crawler and database
·  You have knowledge and experience in the STOA models in NLP, and able to implement them
·  Knowledge and interest in data science with a deep understanding of the principles of machine learning algorithms and any state-of-the-art natural language processing methodology
·  Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills
·  Ability to work with a global team, collaborate with includes scientists, engineers, business, analyst and consultants from different cultures and locations
·  Ability to build and maintain our relations with first tier universities, working with professors on related research topics

In order to ensure that your application will be considered, it has to include a current CV as well as a motivation letter.

Due to regulations non-EU/EFTA citizens have to provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents.
