Intern - Site Services - Strategy & Business Operations

Job description

Site Services manages all aspects to keep the campus running properly. Strategy & Business Operations (SBO) is a cross functional team that supports the work of all groups in Site Services.

A new multipurpose building is opening on campus; we need Intern support for various elements of tours, orientation, way finding, customer services, etc.

Working with the Strategy and Business Operations group in Site Services, our Intern will:

1. Be the face of a highly visible building launch – located near one of the entrances of the building, the intern(s) will be the first point of contact to greet employees, highlight building services and features, address any questions, and communicate with security regarding crowd control.

2. Evaluate and improve information that needs to be shared with visitors – engage employees in conversations about what they are interested in seeing/doing when the building opens to best prepare for the opening days.

3. Develop and Lead tours of the building – To help manage end user expectations, there will be hosted tours in the weeks leading to the building opening, the interns will help develop the tours and lead them as well.

4. Analyze captured data to determine areas of concern – collect data during the project to better understand how people are using the building and how we can better offer customer services.

5. Support the development of the Interactive Website – There will be a vendor managing the creation of the site, but this person will support the content needs of the vendor as well as coordinate with the building PM for video and other days in the building.

6. Maintains Interactive Site – updating content on the website to correlate with the needs coming from the tours and user conversations.

7. Participate fully in the Genentech Intern Poster and Illustration day.

·  Recent graduate in Communications, Graphic Design, Graphic Communication, Event Management or similar
·  Upbeat, energetic, positive, mature and professional attitude
·  Professional appearance
·  Must have experience working with the public
·  Good communication skills to convey information clearly, listen effectively and ask appropriate questions
·  Must be independent worker and self-starter with intuitive sense for working safely in a potentially risky environment
·  Proficient with Google apps, Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT
·  Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and web design is a plus
·  Clear goal setting and work planning resulting in demonstrated results desired
·  40 hours per week, no overtime authorized without prior approval
