The internship will focus on collecting safety-relevant data of small molecules from high-throughput screening results and integrating them with other types of data including compound-target binding information and gene expression to identify driving factors underlying safety liabilities of drug candidates. As an intern operating on a cross-department research project, you will work in close collaboration with scientists in Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) using and developing state-of-the-art bioinformatics and chemoinformatic tools and resources. The knowledge and knowhow can potentially benefit future drug discovery programs by reducing costs and increasing success rate of preclinical safety evaluation.
During your internship your tasks will include:
· Evaluate, collect, and curate relevant data
· Exploratory statistical analysis and visualisations of the data
· Integration of multiple data sources
· Assessment of safety risk factors by statistical modelling including machine learning
· Interpret and report the results with the assistance of experts in different fields

You are a dynamic enrolled master/Ph.D. Student in Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics or a related field with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and drug discovery. You work diligently and independently, are motivated by the possibility of performing state of the art research with different types of data, and are passionate about working on a problem with practical impacts.
Furthermore, you have/are:
· Proficiency in working with bioinformatics or chemoinformatics tools and methods
· Good knowledge of R, Python, C/C++, Pipeline Pilot/KNIME, or other programming languages with proven records of good programming and documentation styles
· Good communication skills in English
· Teamwork and collaboration skills
· Knowledge in biological sciences, medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery is a plus
· enjoying to work with big data volume

The preferred start date of the internship is July 2018 or upon availability.
