“Small Molecules Technical Development” (PTDC) brings a broad range of experience across drug substance (DS), drug product (DP), and analytical sciences, and collaborates closely with key partners in the departments Research and Early Development (pRED / gRED), Small Molecules (PTC) and PTD. PTDC is responsible for late stage technical development of our small molecules (SM) pipeline and manufacture of DS and DP for clinical studies across our SM manufacturing network.

This position is part of the Drug Product Small Molecules Development organization, reporting to the Section Head of Formulation and Process Research and Development. As a Group Head in this Section, you will lead a team of associates, with regards to people planning and people management. In addition, you will serve as project leader in pharmaceutical development projects, that involve both standard and novel drug delivery technologies, and encompass clinical and market formulation development. In addition, you will also be responsible to support build-up of new capabilities within the organization, particularly focused on pediatric/patient-centric platforms and respiratory drug delivery.

As a Group Head, your responsibilities will include:

·  Supervising a team of associates within the section, including performance management and people development, project resource management within the department and occasionally deputizing for the Section Head
·  Planning and execution of technical and clinical batches (GMP) applying QbD-based development principles incl. risk analysis tools and statistical approaches
·  Authoring and review of technical reports, patent applications, and relevant Quality modules to support IND/NDA filings
·  Working collaboratively and cross-functionally to support the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms for NCEs (e.g. collaborate with colleagues from Small Molecules Research, Drug Product Analytical Development, global Packaging Development, Device development, Solid State Sciences, global and local Manufacturing Science and Technology)
·  Build-up of in house and external capabilities in pediatric/ patient-centric drug delivery platforms

Would you like to support these exciting tasks? We are looking for you if you fulfill the following requirements:

·  Hold an advanced degree in pharmaceutical sciences, food chemistry, material sciences or related fields with a background in drug product development of oral dosage forms.
·  Have at least 3 to 5 years' experience in small molecule drug product development, preferably with experience in development of novel drug delivery technology platforms and GMP manufacturing.
·  Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with high level of proficiency in German and English
·  Are able to think out-of-the-box, and implement creative solutions via close collaborations within and across functions
·  Demonstrate excellent organizational planning and communication skills
