The Position

Mission

In your role you will be a member of the Architecture Chapter, which provides the capabilities required to plan and develop Informatics solutions and build roadmaps and strategies to set the direction for the future.

 The Architecture Chapter provides the expertise needed to bring together different requirements and create solutions and systems design with the assurance that everything is built to the agreed standards. 

As an Enterprise Architect you will partner with relevant stakeholders in business and informatics and provide the expertise needed to translate the overall business strategy(s) into an informatics strategic direction.

Additionally you will bring an understanding of the external market, drive the research and examination of new technologies to innovate and evaluate the next generation of Informatics solutions.


 

Primary Responsibilities 

As Enterprise Architect you will: 

  • Play a key role in the strategic planning at different levels of the organization,  by establishing a technology and information roadmap that enables a portfolio to support current and future business capabilities connecting the business and IT strategy

  • You are a Lean Portfolio Governance member and provide inputs to portfolio prioritization decisions

  • You drive the design, engineering, reuse of applications or patterns, which includes the creation of Enabler Epics for the architectures that comprise the solutions in a portfolio; ensuring a continuous flow of value and improving the time to market 

  • You have a focus on reusable technology and information to maintain the architectural runway leveraging a composable architecture (i.e. creating reliable easy to compose and consume components) 

  • You drive the continuous improvement of the quality of products within your domain by applying Quality Attributes (NFRs) on relevant levels (portfolio, product lines and products)

  • You drive the research and examination of new technologies including the feasibility assessment that provide insights on the scalability and cross domain usage

  • You support the development of lean business cases and monitor the domain, product line and products for new demands; specifically with a focus on skills and capabilities that the chapter needs to provide next

  • Put a strong focus on the enabling the flow and access on information and manage the information security in the areas you are supporting in order to optimize the information and data sharing across the enterprise.

  • You follow a lean-agile governance approach in support of agile teams, enabling decentralized decision making to balance between intentional architecture and emergent design, promoting architecture practices such as recording architectural decisions and architectural assessments.

  • You manage the evolution of the domain IT Landscape and ensure it enables the business strategies.You document and maintain the current and future / desired IT landscape in collaboration with solution architects of the domain, product line, products you are supporting

  • You guide and coach implementation teams and solution architects on the technical architecture implementation activities, particularly for new and/or shared solutions

  • You continuously collaborate across and among all architecture groups (chapter & catalyst) and product teams to adjust and evolve architecture guardrails (including architecture principles, reference models; patterns, decision frameworks), architecture practices and metrics (e.g. enabling flow and business outcome).

  • You perform the leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks required to ensure that information systems are designed and evolve appropriately


 

Who You Are

Skills and Experience:

You have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent. 

Ideally, you have strong business knowledge in the Pharma/Biotech industry and associated processes. 

You have 7-10 years hands-on experience in architecting/implementing software solutions in  large/medium global enterprises with global geographical topologies. 

You have 3+ years of experience of managing architecture on portfolio level.

You bring the following qualifications and skills:

  • Excellent understanding of Database technologies and concepts (Relational, Graph, other NoSQL),  Data Warehouse concepts, Big Data frameworks ( including Hadoop), Data Catalog, Data Lake, Snowflake, statistical, analytical and semantic methods.

  • Good understanding of underlying infrastructure for Analytics and Big Data solutions. Knowledge in Blockchain is a plus.

  • Accomplished in framing an enterprise IT architecture, proven to deliver robust, reusable, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions to drive global business objectives.

  • The ability to develop and execute a technical vision with a focus on business value and proven experience in Agile environments.  Can work individually and as a team member.

  • Exhibits a Lean-Agile mindset with excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • The ability to apply systems thinking and a strong passion to bring value-adding technology to the business.

  • You exhibit a Lean-Agile mindset, you understand the critical importance of diversity in teams and are a great collaborator.

  • You effectively engage stakeholders at all levels, you are influential in your area of expertise and have excellent English communication skills .

  • You have the ability to live in ambiguity and react positively in constantly changing business environments. You are constantly looking for innovative ways to do things and opportunities for improvement. 

  • You have a certification or detailed knowledge of the TOGAF architecture framework or comparable architecture methodologies.

  • A certification or detailed knowledge of the SAFe framework or comparable agile delivery methodologies is a plus such as the Open Agile Architecture standard.

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture Management tools (alfabet, Enterprise Architect or similar)
