We are the Data & Analytics Chapter, part of Integrated Informatics at Roche. We build excellence and mastery in next generation data and analytics capabilities, including but not limited to Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytics and Data Management & Governance.  We release value from data - all the way from Discovery to Insights.

In addition to partnering with teams across the business to develop solutions, scale and automate data pipelines, Data & Analytics Chapter members are uniquely placed to connect the dots across initiatives, promote information sharing across domains and recommend re-use of data, analytics and solutions wherever possible.

The Position

We are looking for a Data Management & Governance specialist / Information & Data Architect  who will join us in the newly setup Integrated Informatics for a journey to drive and promote efficient and effective information management throughout the organization. 

The Data Management & Governance specialist / Information & Data Architect must be the big-picture thinker who understands the value of data to the organization and the importance of good information management practices including information lifecycle management, information modelling, master data management and business requirements gathering.

In this position  you are responsible for improving business performance and cost optimization through the use of business glossaries, information models, repositories and flows to meet the requirements of the business strategies and business processes. 

Responsibilities

You will work on various aspects of Data management and governance  including but not limited to:

  • Driving  and taking the lead in identifying information value opportunities through strategic discussions with Senior Business and IT Leaders as needed and provides decision support

  • Acting as the Informatics representative to define Information and Data Strategies as part of an overall Business Strategy.

  • Identifying areas for improvement in terms of information flows and structure, automation, information representation and advising project teams in best practice and implementation

  • Improving the overall quality of the enterprise data assets through the effective application of best practice in information design

  • Recognizing and resolving conflicts between models, ensuring that information and data models are consistent with the enterprise model (e.g., entity names, relationships and definitions)

  • Reviewing and approving information and data model designs with a focus on those areas influencing interoperability, analytics including compliance with the enterprise information model

  • Ensuring integration of project logical data models into the enterprise information model

  • Maintaining repositories for representing the data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes, the information flows, business glossary

  • Participating in the development of a usable information architecture, which will include a data model and a common business vocabulary, which will then be used to guide solution development and achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio.

The ideal candidate

  • Is principally focused on enterprise information solutions, such as master data management, metadata management, business intelligence, data interoperability, analytics, data integration.

  • Encourages a data citizenship mindset ensuring we all collectively take responsibility and accountability for the data we create, consume, manage and share.

  • Exhibits an Agile mindset, i.e. Good enough instead of perfection and Focus on “Reuse before Buy before Make” when providing direction on future solutions

  • Exhibits strong soft skills typically required as an architect (i.e.: presentation and public speaking, negotiation, challenging the status quo)

  • Drive the increase in maturity and knowledge of information related topics across the organization through education and mentoring 

  • Has the ability to escalate and drive management decisions in relation to project execution

  • 3+ years of data strategy and data governance, preferably in a consulting environment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with strong data understanding through experience
