Title: Co-op Student, Data Science (8 month Internship)

Division: Product Development Data Science

Job Purpose:

This role is an opportunity to work with Data Scientists in Biostatistics and Statistical Programmer Analysts (SPA) in providing high quality statistical expertise and programming to assigned Clinical Development studies. This is an opportunity to learn and contribute to many aspects of drug development where data scientists are involved. This includes strategic input to protocols, and study start up activities, developing study statistical programming solutions and supporting the analyses laid out in analysis plans. This internship allows candidates to familiarize themselves with the objectives and expectations set by both Biostatistics and Statistical Programming and Analysis (SPA) management.

Job Accountabilities may include:

·  A member of cross-functional Study Management Teams
·  With assistance of senior statistical scientists, reviews study protocols, Data analysis plans and statistical analysis plans.
·  With assistance of senior statistical programmer analyst (SPA) program deliverables (tables, listings and graphs) for clinical study according to requirements (specification and standards). May review and implement dataset specification for simple derived variables.
·  Reviews and contributes to study initiation activities
·  Study Conduct: Reviews case report forms to ensure protocol objectives are met and project standards are maintained. Contributes to user acceptance testing of data collection systems and quality control of filing and regulatory documents for statistical accuracy. Develops statistical programs as necessary to perform analyses, Review and approve analyses produced by statistical programming, ensuring the accuracy and validity of results.
·  Analysis & Reporting: Review the clinical study report, and with assistance of senior scientists and cross-functional team members. Reviews global health authority documents and regulatory response for health authority submissions
·  Contributes to study publications and presentations, and provides analytical support for exploratory activities such as personalized healthcare biomarker development and PK/PD modelling.

Qualifications:

·  Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD level program in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science or similar areas of academic discipline
·  Programming skills and experience using statistical software such as R
·  Good Communication and Collaboration Skills (including interpersonal skills to contribute effectively in cross-functional team settings, ability to build collaborative relationships with scientific and non-scientific partners)
·  Demonstrates interest and ability to learn new things, takes initiative, welcomes problems as challenges; finds solutions to technical problems
·  Good knowledge of English in a business environment
