Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Ophthalmology is in constant evolution. Our current focus are retinal diseases, but we are constantly looking into novel opportunities such as Dry Eye Disease or Glaucoma.
We are now offering a Roche Clinical Fellowship program. In the Ophthalmology group, we are developing cutting edge therapies to prevent blindness.
You will be working with a group of Ophthalmologists, scientists, PhD students and Postdocs in the Ophthalmology Department within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) in Basel, Switzerland. The Roche pRED Ophthalmology Clinical Fellowship is a new flagship program designed to diversify and broaden clinical training through exposure to clinical research methodology from the pharmaceutical medicine perspective. The fellowship will be 1 year in duration, primarily based within the Ophthalmology Translational Medicine Group at the Roche Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. The Ophthalmology team in pRED is responsible for the strategy, design and execution of early phase clinical trials.
As a member of Ophthalmology team, you will be part of a truly international group that includes scientists and clinicians that are developing ophthalmic medicines for the future.
The position
As a Clinical Fellow in the Ophthalmology Department (I2O), you will focus on a clinical research project evaluating fibrosis in neovascular age-related macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. Over many years Roche has generated a wealth of clinical databases from clinical trials and patient registries. The Clinical Fellow on this project will benefit from access to these resources around which the project will be designed and carried out with the support of skilled biostatisticians.
Your supervisor will be an experienced member of the Clinical Development team working in Basel.
As a Fellow in the Ophthalmology Translational Medicine Group you may:
· Be involved in the, analysis and interpretation of data from clinical studies in neovascular AMD for molecules early in development as well as marketed compounds.
· Interact with globally recognized academic experts and clinical investigators
· Present your findings internally on a regular basis, at scientific meetings, and aim for work to be publishable in high impact journals
· Generate and present abstracts and oral presentations for external conferences (e.g.,ARVO, AAO, EURETINA etc) and other specialty meetings.
· Be involved in discussions and initiatives around Ophthalmic Precision Medicine (OPM) and patient selection for therapeutic interventions
Eligibility
· You are an MD (essential)
· You are a Ophthalmology Senior Resident or Retinal Fellow
· You have knowledge and clinical experience in the management of retinal diseases
· You have experience in interpreting multimodal retinal images.
· You have a can-do, positive mindset with creative ways to resolve topics.
· You have good English language competency.
Duration
· 1 year temporary contract
· Location: Roche main campus, Basel
