Roche Welwyn Biostatistics is delighted to announce the introduction of its intern scheme for Statistics PhD students within the UK.
Our biostatistics summer interns will work for 8-10 weeks at our Roche Welwyn site under the supervision of experienced biostatisticians on theoretical or applied problems with direct relevance to Roche's ongoing clinical drug-development research in areas such as oncology, immunology, infectious disease, ophthalmology, and neuroscience.
Who are we
We are strategic partners in drug development, applying our drug development and statistical expertise to the design of clinical development plans, clinical studies and non-clinical experiments. This work helps to support regulatory approval and market access of life saving treatments.
The Role

As a biostatistician you will provide a vital contribution to cross-functional study management teams. In particular, you will be responsible for designing clinical studies, planning statistical analysis and performing exploratory data analysis.

You will provide statistical input on a topic, such as study design, randomization and novel statistical methodologies and data types.

You will need an interest in statistics and its application to healthcare as well as some knowledge of statistical programming.
There will be opportunities to interact with Roche's global network of over 200 statisticians and at the end of the internship, students give a department-wide presentation on their research topic. As well as engaging in an exciting research topic, interns have the opportunity to experience and understand first-hand the work of statisticians within the pharmaceutical industry and how they add value, learn new technical and soft skills highly relevant for future careers, all while being paid for their time.

Requirements
Applicants must currently be on a PhD program within the UK in the areas of statistics or data science.
