The Chemical Biology Department is part of Therapeutic Modalities within Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). We deliver qualified hits as starting points for drug discovery programs. We qualify & characterize the hit series in many dimensions with translational enzymology, relevant biochemical and cellular models and biophysical methods. Within the Therapeutic modalities department, the Roche non-clinical Biorepository manages all cell lines needed for pRED teams and beyond.
The main task of this associate position is to enable cell culture work throughout pRED. This entails acquiring, growing and banking a wide variety of cells and cell lines including quality control and management of the global Roche database. You will interact on a daily basis with researchers working in all disease areas, who are located either in Basel or abroad, to facilitate their research. You will also support assay development by establishing SOPs for cell plating for high throughput assays using automated cell culture systems.
We are looking for a highly motivated hands-on Associate to join our team in Chemical Biology in the Roche Innovation Center Basel, Switzerland in order to expand and strengthen our efforts.
Your responsibilities include:
· Interact and communicate with internal and external partners
· Ensure timely delivery of requested cells and cell lines in different Formats
· Cultivate cells and optimize cell line culture conditions
· Perform quality control of cell lines (genomic fingerprinting, species determination, mycoplasma assays)
· Curate the global Roche database

· Associate / Bsc degree with cell biology Background
· 3 years of industry experience
· Strong expertise in tissue culture
· Expertise in molecular biology techniques
· Effective communication orally and in written form in English, German is a plus
· Pro-active orientation and commitment to innovation and team work
