The Patent Operation Team is globally responsible for filing national, international and European patent applications, managing the Roche patent portfolio and ensuring efficient and effective operation of all related processes. The Global Patent Operations Team is also responsible to monitor third party patent rights. In this challenging position at Roche Patent Department in Basel, you will take up a role as an Assistant Monitoring Specialist and supply the Patent Attorneys in Group Patents with latest legal status information. Your main duties are:
·  Support the Global Patent Operations Monitoring Team in all administrative and operational matters and record of new cases
·  Submission of cases to be monitored to external business provider
·  Control, record and timely distribute the monitoring results to the patent attorney and record of in-licensed patent rights
·  Obtain the required signatures from inventors, applicants etc.
·  Order translations and ensure notarization/legalization according to the national requirements
·  Provide back-up support for Assistant Filing Specialist

Position Expectations/ Who you are:
·  Commercial degree or equivalent education preferred and at least 3 years work experience as a legal/patent assistant (experience in Patent Monitoring preferred)
·  Good oral and written communication skills in English and German, good computer skills
·  Ability to work with and take direction from multiple individuals, as well as the ability to work independently and ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
·  Good planning, prioritization and organizational skills, excellent administrative/secretarial skills, including attention to details, cooperation and the ability to collaborate in a team, including cross-office, ability in dealing with highly confidential information
