2024 Summer Intern - Sequencing, Consumable Device
Santa Clara, USA IT development
Job description
The Position
Department Summary
Roche Diagnostics Solutions (Santa Clara) is developing nanopore based sequencing dedicated to making clinical genetic testing easy and affordable. We are developing a revolutionary, low cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers.
Our team’s goal is to build a deep understanding of processes that drive sequencer performance. The chosen candidate will have an opportunity to contribute directly to the long term success of the sequencing platform through investigation of polymer materials, liquid reagents, and their solid-liquid interface. The candidate will design, execute, and analyze experiments to characterize wetting dynamics and their impact to sequencing performance of the nanopore array.
This internship position is located in Santa Clara, California, on site.
Key Responsibilities
Contact angle measurements of different liquids over a range of materials and surface geometry and morphology
Microscope analysis of wetting dynamics
Modeling wetting based on measurements of interfacial tension or contact angle
Communicating key findings and results to a broad project team
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May or June 2024 (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
