The Position
Department Summary
General legal, compliance and intellectual property opportunities in support of an international medical diagnostic company's in-house legal department, including contract review and drafting, legal research and writing, compliance policy review and enforcement, and litigation support.
This internship position is located in Tucson, AZ, on-site
Key Responsibilities
This is a unique in-house opportunity for a legal intern looking to gain experience in the healthcare field. We are looking for a law student with initiative, creativity, enthusiasm and a willingness to jump in and learn, ask questions, and strive to provide substantive legal and compliance analysis and advice to our international medical diagnostic business (regulated by the FDA and other similar agencies outside the US). This internship will provide hands on opportunities across various aspects of our business, and will require legal research, writing, contract template usage, and written and oral presentations to various constituencies within the company. Work may include drafting and negotiating various agreements – including research and development agreements, clinical trial agreements, material transfer agreements, license agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, and consulting agreements – as well as legal and compliance research, litigation experience and support, and cross-disciplinary opportunities with our business and research colleagues. Interns will also have opportunity to meet and interact with other business/science interns, the legal/compliance and business development/licensing teams, and various other leaders in the organization.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing a Juris Doctorate Degree (enrolled student)
- Students finishing the first year of law school preferred
