2024 Summer Intern - Instrument Development

Department Summary

The Instrument Development team within the Pathology R&D organization is a team of highly specialized medical device engineers and scientists who work on developing and maintaining cutting edge technology products for cancer patients. 

Each and every day what motivates us is that our patients need us to provide the best products so they can have a meaningful patient journey. Our role is critical as we are responsible for the complete product development lifecycle.

Interns become an integral part of the Instrument Development team and get real world experience of working in a fast paced, high tech  and highly regulated medical device environment.

This internship position is located in Tucson, AZ  on site

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and document project needs and objectives.

  • Plan tasks and complete in an Agile way of working.

  • Communicate, communicate, communicate.

  • Multiple presentations to showcase progress and seek help on challenges.

  • Work closely/ daily with an assigned mentor to make sure the project objectives are being met. 

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks , full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required) 

Required Education

Required majors: Systems and Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or MIS 

- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student)

- Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student)

- Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)

Required skills:

  • Inquisitive and creative mindset

  • Enthusiasm to take on challenging technical projects. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Any other skills (preferred but not required to have)

  • Good oral and written communication. 

  • Good technical aptitude in field of study.
