The Position

Department Summary

The Data Science for Product team is responsible for the development of new and innovative ways to use data to generate associated clinical insights in support of our digital software products used at the point of care. 

We work closely with the digital product teams to identify what data is available to evaluate their market opportunity, support data collection and its interpretation, and apply methods like ML/AI to maximize the use of data.  

Team members for this group have 2 to 25 years of experience working in the field of data science for product and the unit is well positioned to make important contributions to Roche Information Solutions (RIS). 

This internship position is located in Santa Clara, CA on site or fully remote.  

Key Responsibilities

For this particular internship, the goal is to develop cutting-edge AI/ML algorithms to quantify patient risk of Alzheimer's disease through multi-modal, longitudinal patient history from electronic health records, radiological images, wearable device data, and clinical notes. 

The intern will play a pivotal role in driving innovation to optimize patient care delivery and clinical trial study design. 

The intern will lead the evaluation and analyses of diverse datasets,  prepare data and train machine learning models, perform rigorous model selection and ablation studies, communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders through comprehensive reports, visualizations, and contribute to publications in high quality scientific, technical or medical journals.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in  May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Who You Are (Required) 

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

- Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree

- Preference for Masters Degree Program 

Required majors: Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position in California is $45 - $50 per hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
