YOUR MISSION:Assess and co-ordinate action needed on all aspects of intellectual property matters and advise management accordingly within assigned area. Provide intellectual property services for assigned product area. Advise appropriate personnel as to legal rights within the patents area. Determine patentable inventions and recommend patent applications. Prepare and prosecute national and international patent applications. May supervise and train more junior members of the patent department.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
- Assess and coordinate actions on all aspects of intellectual property matters, providing strategic advice to management within the assigned area.
- Deliver intellectual property services for designated product areas, ensuring comprehensive legal support.
- Advise personnel on legal rights related to patents, ensuring informed decision-making.
- Identify patentable inventions and recommend appropriate patent applications to protect innovations.
- Prepare and prosecute national and international patent applications, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation.
- Supervise and mentor junior members of the patent department, fostering professional growth and development.
- Manage and file intellectual property applications for patents, safeguarding the organization's research work.
- Edit documents in accordance with organizational style guidelines, preparing information for publication.
- Design, develop, and deliver legal services with guidance from senior colleagues, ensuring high standards of practice.
- Coordinate specific legal cases, optimizing efficiency, effectiveness, and cost-conscious processing.
- Create and maintain a global, company-wide document management system, ensuring compliance and accessibility.
- Engage with stakeholders by identifying their needs, issues, and concerns, and responding appropriately to promote understanding and commitment.
- Provide professional supervision and coaching to practitioners, enhancing their practice and professional competence.
- Develop personal capabilities through participation in assessment and development planning activities, formal and informal training, and coaching.
- Maintain external professional accreditation where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
- Stay informed on technology, external regulations, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level required.
- Experience sufficient to handle the majority of situations and provide advice to others.
- Experience in supervising junior colleagues.
