Cartier – Assistant Archivist

 

How will you make an impact? 

·  You will arrange and catalogue existing archive collections, with a specific focus on Post-1974 collection material, advising on any conservation and re-housing as required
·  You will appraise any new deposits to the Cartier London archive with the advice of the Archivist 
·  You will create catalogues to file level of any new acquisitions
·  You will coordinate the transfer of post-1974 collections to and from external storage
·  You will continue the systematic archiving of all contemporary London production
·  You will support the Archivist with research requests from the Cartier Tradition and Collection teams as required, focussing on enquiries relating to more modern pieces
·  You will undertake thematic research relating to Cartier and London in external press and publications as required

 

How will you experience success with us?

·  You will possess a postgraduate degree in Archives or Records Management or an equivalent qualification.
·  You will have a strong and demonstrable interest in working in the archives sector
·  You will  demonstrate a familiarity of archival cataloguing standards
·  You will be a highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently
·  You will have a good knowledge of the decorative arts and twentieth century history as well as jewellery design
·  You will be fluent in English with some French an advantage
·

You will report to the Head of Archives, an experienced and extremely knowledgeable colleague to learn from. You will have the exceptional opportunity to work with our invaluable Cartier archive collections, which includes ledgers, photographs, plaster casts and drawings that date from the early days of the Maison Cartier, founded in 1847. You will closely collaborate also with our Paris and New York Archive teams.
