You will play a crucial role in delivering accurate reporting, maintaining strong balance sheet control, and supporting revenue management for our shooting school in Berkshire (PRB). We are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of key areas, and contribute to a well-organised, efficient, and commercially focused finance team.

Please note, this is a maternity cover to start in May 2026 until April 2027.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
  • Prepare monthly management accounting for revenue and operational expenditure, including accruals, prepayments, and supporting journals within tight deadlines.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate, complete, and supported by clear commentary and follow up actions where needed.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee accrued income, deferred income, customer deposits, and other relevant balance sheet accounts to ensure accurate treatment and strong control.
  • Provide meaningful analysis and commentary on financial performance, highlighting risks, opportunities, and areas requiring action.
  • Support the Financial Controller in revenue management across PRB, including reconciliation of event revenue, deposits, deferred income, invoicing, and revenue cut off.
  • Work closely with operational stakeholders to ensure PRB revenue and related costs are captured accurately, completely, and in the correct period.
  • Identify weaknesses in current processes, controls, and reporting, and take the lead in driving improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
  • Lead assigned finance projects from initial review through to implementation, with clear ownership and accountability for delivery.
  • Assist with external audits, including preparing supporting information, responding to queries, and ensuring finance records are well organised and audit ready.
  • Review work completed by other members of the finance team where required, providing guidance and ensuring a high standard of accuracy and control.
  • Act as a reliable point of contact within finance for day-to-day technical queries, process issues, and reporting matters.
  • Support the development and documentation of finance procedures to strengthen consistency, resilience, and team capability.

HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?

  • Qualified by experience, part qualified, or fully qualified accountant.
  • Strong experience in month end accounting, balance sheet control, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience in accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and revenue related accounting.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data.
  • Good systems knowledge, ideally including Sage.
  • Strong understanding of accounting policies, controls, and finance procedures.
  • Proven ability to investigate issues, solve problems, and work through detail with limited supervision.
  • Commercially aware, with the confidence to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a well organised and disciplined approach to deadlines.
  • Experience in process improvement, reporting enhancement, or automation would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience in hospitality, events, retail, or other multi-stream revenue environments would be beneficial.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to our Berkshire shooting school once per week.
