Process Modeller Engineer

Permanent

Hybrid working (2 days at home, 3 days on site)

Location: Abingdon

 

 

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is fast growing with hybrid opportunities available up and down the country. We're striving to create a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients the best range of talent.

 

Supporting one of our key clients we are looking for a Process Modeller Engineer to act as the face of Nuvia. You will contribute to fusion development projects, which will involve generation of process models for fuel cycle technologies, process design and operator training. Most of the technologies are very low maturity, so a strong grasp of fundamental chemical engineering principles is required.

 

Responsibilities 

As the Process Modeller you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for the design, installation, commissioning of tritium compatible fuel cycle systems and associated equipment.
  • Manage technical documentation and provide expert guidance pertaining to the construction, operation, and function of gas handling systems.
  • Responsible for the generation and archiving of specifications, control plans, control philosophy, commissioning reports, and associated documentation.
  • Accountable for supporting projects, ensuring the timely delivery of defined work packages within specification and budget.
  • Ensuring that the Safety, Health, and Environment culture and working practices are in alignment with requirements.
  • Managing and coordinating staff and subcontractors, including specifying tasks, tracking quality and performance.

 

Desired profile

Experience & Skills

To be considered for the Process Modeller role you should have most of the following:

  • Modelling experience with either Apsen Plus, AVEVA, COMSOL, MatLab, or Simulink.
  • Ability to generate models starting from PDEs.
  • Qualified to master’s degree level (or equivalent) in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in a systems-engineering approach to long-term plant performance and availability.
  • Previous experience in the writing and reviewing of operating instructions and work control documentation.
  • Capable of defining, structuring, and delivering projects, and to manage delivery of their own work.
  • Must be responsible and have structured approach to safety, including hazard identification, risk assessments and hazard elimination and mitigation.
  • Chartered Engineer (desirable).
  • Understanding of radiological hazards (desirable).
