Description of the assignment
Senior Structural Engineers make up the body of the engineering department and are responsible for carrying out the day-to-day developments of the design through the design process.
The Senior Structural Engineer is fundamentally a hands-on analysis and design-based role within the Civil & Structural department that generally includes interfacing with other engineering disciplines in the project design team.
The Senior Structural Engineer also has a shared managerial responsibility in respect of Graduates, Apprentices and/or Designers in the team as and when required to do so.
To be considered for the Senior Structural Engineer position the applicant must be delivering functions above that of a Design Engineer.
Reports to
Principal Engineer.
Key Accountabilities
· Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process
· Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications
· Prepare supporting design calculations to substantiate design
· Contribution to design reviews
· Preparation of technical specifications
· Preparation of risk assessments, technical files and other technical documentation required by safety legislation and procedures
Profile
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
· A recognised Engineering Certificate such as HNC / HND / Degree
Desired profile
Duties and Requirements
Essential
· A safety cultures
· Knowledge of the fundamentals of structures and foundations using Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel.
· Design experience in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel.
· Knowledge and understanding of Structural steel connections and connection types.
· Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position
· Ability to work to tight deadlines,
· A strong team player.
Desirable
· Nuclear experience or experience from within a highly regulated industry,
· A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays overs occasionally
· Experience of supervision.
