Working Student for optics lab and pulsed-laser-system development (all genders)
Your Role
You will be based at our Innovation Center, Darmstadt within the organization Innovation Projects, in the LicriEye Team. Your role is to support the project with optics-lab-related engineering activities to aid the development of a specialized pulsed laser system and to characterize LicriEye ophalmologic materials. You will report to the Head of Lasersystem-Development and you will collaborate closely with other technical experts working on the project. In your role, you will be involved in the following physics and optics-based tasks:
Working in an optics lab with a femtosecond laser,Setting up laser-optics and instrumentation on an optical bench,Evaluating LicriEye materials with a laser system for use in intra-ocular lenses, Planning, evaluating and analyzing lab experiments,Maintaining and improving optical instrumentation,Participating and contributing to all relevant team meetings, Work in a highly-dynamic start-up environment.

Who you are:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree student in physics or related field
· Hands-on experience working with lasers, optics and instrumentation
· Independent worker with a curious mind and strong problem-solving skills
· Dependable, communicative and responsive
· Highly committed and interested to make a difference in developing cutting-edge medical technology
The position:
· Open immediately; starting September 1, 2020
· 6-12 months contract as working student
· 20 hours per week
