Your Role:  

 

At EMD Electronics, the Senior Research &Development Scientist will work with a team of curious scientists to provide advanced material solutions to the semiconductor industry. We are at the forefront of technology, working with all the leading semiconductor manufacturers to deliver integrated solutions to the most challenging problems. 

 

·  Perform advanced research into new materials, customization of each application, and intensive customer support.
·  Manage and lead projects and be a key contact person for management and peers alike.   
·  Focus on polymerization especially living anionic polymerization and block copolymer synthesis and do direct self-assembly (DSA).
·  5% Travel Domestic and/or International

 

Who You Are:

 

Basic Qualifications :

·  Ph.D. degree in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related Science and Engineering discipline
·  2+ years of experience in chemical synthesis and physical characterization of polymers
·  2+ years of post-doctoral experience in customized small and/or macromolecular synthesis and characterization, and handling air-sensitive reagents
·  2+ years of hands-on experience with molecular characterization tools (NMR, FT-IR, GPC, HPLC, GC, etc.) and material characterization tools (SEM, AFM, XPS, XRR, DSC, TGA, TEM, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

·  Highly motivated to work with a team and succeed, able to learn and adopt new concepts and capable of handling the ambiguity and the inherent uncertainties that come with advanced material research and development.
·  Proven ability to innovate and generate new ideas, patents, and make a convincing case to drive to implementation.
·  Understand photolithography and directed self-assembly of block copolymers
·  Ability to design new molecules to resolve chemical problems
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·  Excellent presentation skills
·  Ability to demonstrate leadership skills
·  Ability to manage projects and influence others without direct authority
·  Being able to work in a matrix environment.
