Your Role:
An exciting role has arisen to join BioReliance, part of MilliporeSigma, the life science business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, as a Sales and Operations Planning Manager. In this critical and strategic position, you will be responsible for overall strategic planning activities within BioReliance in the Rockville, Maryland, US by ensuring a robust demand planning process is in place which allows work to be scheduled in line with client’s expectations whilst achieving optimum use of staff, equipment and facilities, thereby maximizing capacity, productivity and efficiency.
Sales and Operations Planner will have overall responsibility for the management of the operational planning system and process. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with Operations Managers, Project Management, Account Managers, Support Services, Purchasing, Equipment Support and Facilities personnel is critical for success in the role.
· Develop and implement a capacity model and use this tool to communicate capacity constraints to the Operations and Commercial teams
· Develop excellent understanding of complex processes from beginning to end and all steps in detail to perform trouble shooting and process improvement effectively
· Manage, maintain and enhance S&OP operational processes based on throughput, customer service, and all other company and/or departmental goals
· Evaluate, test, recommend and implement changes that could improve service, cycle time, throughput efficiency, inventory levels, etc.
· Identify scheduling constraints and test various methods and strategies to reduce or eliminate those constraints
· Monitor assay turn-around times and escalate any issues which may occur to the Senior Management team in a timely manner
· Organize activities to make sure resources are used efficiently and effectively to achieve organizational goals
· Collate capacity metric results and review sales forecasts periodically to issue reports to key stakeholders within the business
· Develop and maintain periodic status reports to keep management informed on forecasting and capacity performance
· Analyses reports and participate in projects to eliminate backlogs, optimize timelines, and increase customer service.
· Actively develop and build a collaborative team through regular communication and feedback, within the Laboratory/Manufacturing facilities and with the Senior Management team
· Build close relationships with Managers, Supervisors and staff to improve scheduling, capacity, and forecasting processes
· Work with global planning teams as needed to ensure planning designs and requirements are coordinated across the global team
· Take ownership of SAP Demand Planning (DP) and Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) implementation
· Able to confidently present all S&OP data to senior leaders and be able to respond to challenges to data and assumptions
· Collaborate for SAP upcoming implementation from Operations perspective.
· Maintain critical SAP APO Operations inputs to enhance plan quality
· Develop SAP generated reports for various performance measures to identify opportunities for refinement of strategies, process improvement, and testing
Must sit in MD, DC or VA. Hybrid working model
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
· BA or above in a related discipline (e.g. Science or Business) or equivalent experience as a Planner/Scheduler
· Planner/scheduler with experience of working in a heavily regulated industry (e.g. Pharma, Medical Devices, Biopharma) is desirable
Preferred Qualifications :
· Aware of the principles of lean processes (Lean Six Sigma trained or equivalent type of process analysis)
· SAP APO experience is an advantage
