Your Role:

 

You will be responsible for the recruitment, oversight, development, and support of a team of engineers. As an Engineering Manager, you will help shape the future of our product “Athinia” by providing technical leadership through collaborating on architecture and design decisions. You care deeply about your team, invest in their personal growth, and support them in maximizing their impact on the business. You love developing, coaching, and growing people across different subject areas and crafts.

 

You have a deep product engineering background, value technical excellence, and use that to guide the team towards well-engineered and durable solutions. While you are not expected to spend a large percentage of time coding, you are expected to be able to evaluate and raise the technical bar, and help others attain it. You will play a part in engineering, design reviews, code reviews, and will contribute to the code base directly when needed. You lead by example rather than authority. 

 

What you will do:

· 
Attract and retain a diverse team through hiring, mentoring, feedback, and career development 

· 
Mentor and grow engineers while keeping them engaged and focused on the product and company vision 

· 
Enforce clean code and excellent coding practices by conducting thoughtful code reviews 

· 
Develop and implement processes for building better software and teams by encouraging architectural and organizational best practices 

· 
Negotiate, clarify, and communicate engineering priorities across teams to ensure they align with overall business objectives 

· 
Assist in the implementation of applications and systems where necessary by writing class leading code 

· 
Create a collaborative and inclusive environment that is forward thinking, respectful, and effective while fostering a team culture of accountability, communication, and self-management 

 

 

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

· 
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field 

· 
5+ years of software engineering experience and 3 years of experience in hiring, managing, and developing effective engineering teams 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· 
Understanding of data-centric programming (DAGs, SQL, Spark) 

· 
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL 

· 
Knowledge of machine learning principles 

· 
Sound judgment when balancing moving quickly with producing quality code and long-term code maintainability 

· 
Possess a willingness and ability to work hands-on and with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment 

· 
Strategic agility, strong critical and logical thinking with ability to analyze problems 

· 
Ability to communicate and collaborate respectfully and effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
