Postdoc Medical Chemistry DA (m/w/d) - limited 2 years

Your role:

You will be a member of the Medicinal Chemistry department of the Merck Biopharma division. In this position you will perform over the next two years innovative research on the use of novel bifunctional small molecules to modulate the cellular location & function of disease-causing proteins. Towards this goal you will design such bifunctional molecules, plan & execute their synthesis and evaluate their activity. You will be part of a cross-functional & international team of scientists making use of all aspects of state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry. You will be mentored by experienced medicinal chemists and your personal development will be supported by trainings adapted to your professional interests and needs.

 

 Who you are:

·  PhD degree in chemistry with a solid understanding and hands-on experience of synthetic organic chemistry; basic know-how about medicinal chemistry preferred
·  Passionate about the use of synthetic organic chemistry to address key questions in the field of life sciences; interested in making use of modern synthetic methods and multi-parameter optimization strategies to design and synthesize biologically active molecules
·  Attracted by participating in a multidisciplinary research project requiring highly developed scientific expertise and advanced laboratory techniques together with freedom for independent judgment, decision making and action
·  Demonstrated high level of creativity and independence in designing synthetic routes and solving complex synthetic problems, experience in working in a dynamic environment and within a multidisciplinary & international team
·  Excellent communication and motivational skills, eager to introduce latest knowledge into research activities and independently develop new technological or scientific solutions and strategies
