Implementation of robotic-based approaches for formulation development of biopharmaceuticals

Duration : 6 months

Your role:
We are looking for a highly motivated intern to join our Switzerland-based group working on development and implementation of robotic approaches for formulation development of biopharmaceutical drugs.
In this role, you will work alongside  scientists based in Corsier-sur-Vevey, Switzerland, currently working on our newly designed robotic platform, as well as other experts and stakeholders based in Corsier-sur-Vevey and Guidonia (Italy).
Depending on the stage of the project at the time when you start your internship, as well as your proactivity, you will be involved in one or more of the following activities: implementation of individual workflows and strategies (e.g. high-throughput liquid compounding to prepare large formulation screens in plates, sample prep for on- and off-platform analytics, thermal/mechanical stresses), design/implementation of additional stress approaches (e.g. silicone-oil stress) or ‘translation’ of current stability-predicting methods (e.g. solubility screening, chemical denaturation screening) onto the robotic platform for a fully unattended operation.
You will participate to the design, planning and execution of assigned development-related experiments using existing or investigational procedures. During your internship you will learn and apply basic principles of Quality by Design (QbD) to pave the way for your future career in biopharma.

Who you are:

·  You are a master’s degree student (4th or 5th university year) in biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry or a related subject
·  You have preliminary experience with automated systems (e.g. liquid handlers), as well as hands-on experience in analytical approaches (including, but not limited to, liquid chromatography, plate readers, DLS)
·  You basic or advanced scripting skills in e.g. Python
·  You have a good understanding of protein structure, function and stability
·  You have excellent oral and written communication skills in English
·  You have rigorous attention to details
·  You have a high degree of self-motivation, commitment, reliability and flexibility
·  You are a team player
